Bills report: Strategy and personnel Hardy surgery

Posted by

Rookie James Hardy underwent major ACL reconstruction Jan. 12 and is facing six-to-nine months of rehabilitation. That puts his ability to contribute in 2009 in question and makes finding a proven veteran backup a big priority this offseason. The Bills like rookie Steve Johnson, who came on late in the season to catch 10 passes with two touchdowns, but he’s too inexperienced to draw double-team coverage away from Lee Evans. The 6-foot-5 Hardy has the potential to be that player, but his development is on hold until he’s healthy.
